Celebration of local craftsmanship

Perched at the foothills of the Atlas Mountain is Berber Lodge, a 10 lodge hotel offering sophistication and elegance with those all important breath-taking views. Its dazzling shade of soft rose pink exterior - a typical characteristic for the city of Marrakech - is enough to lure you inside and, when you do, you're greeted with a display of timeless pieces that effortlessly line the interior. For over a decade hotel owner Romain has collected objects from all over Morocco - Resin lamps by Achille Castiglioni, 60s leather and mahogany armchairs, marble sinks, brass tables inspired by Jean Michel Frank and living room furniture recovered from an Austro-Hungarian aristocrat - which have all made their pride of place at Berberlodge to be marvelled at by visitors from far and wide.
There’s no airs and graces at this guest house, no chandeliers or swanky bars, but rather an authentic and organic slice of simplicity which will breathe a sense of harmony into your stay. Set amongst two acres of historic olive grove and stunning gardens, Berber Lodge is steeped in history and pays homage to its heritage and traditions; thanks to local craftsmen the construction of Berber Lodge relied on the purest Berber traditions, and skills of architecture, using mud bricks, reed ceiling, palm tree trunks and eucalyptus wood. Beautifully created by Romain himself - a Swiss designer and architect - and with some help from long-time friends Karl Fournier, from Studio KO’s, Oliver Marty, as well as Paris based landscape designer Arnaud Casaus, they’ve achieved a sensual retreat that celebrates the importance of the finer details and local craftsmanship. A truly unique stay with a contemporary twist, far from the usual.
“Berber Lodge is an oasis we wish to keep a secret. For us to reveal this secret to you is a privilege, as for all those secret places whose names have been whispered to you while you make a promise not to tell anyone” - Berber Lodge
